Proposed changes
megamenuCSS class, with a section header, two columns of links in the order they are set in WP Admin, and an optional featured card with a 16:9 image, custom text and link.Why are these changes being made?
The new navigation structure needs a mega menu, with a featured area per dropdown that can be edited in Appearance > Menus rather than in code. The mobile menu was rebuilt to match it.
The panels are opt-in per item: nothing changes for a menu item until it is given the
megamenuclass, so the desktop navigation renders as it does today until the menu is configured. The mobile restyle and the chevrons apply immediately.Deploying
Two settings live in Appearance > Menus and are worth setting at deploy time:
megamenuon each top-level item that should open a panel. Enable "CSS Classes" and "Description" under Screen Options first.Testing instructions
