FAQs
Frequently asked questions about Orbit.
Orbit is a modern, open-source staff management platform for Roblox groups. It helps you manage members, track activity, automate workflows, and collaborate with your team—all in one place.
Yes! Orbit is free-and-open-source software. You can also self-host or use Planetary's cloud service for no charge.
The best deployment method depends on your experience and how much control you need on your instance:
- Planetary Cloud (RECOMMENDED): Best for those who want a hassle-free, auto-updated, free and managed solution.
- Self-Hosted: Best for those who want to have full control over their instance.
- Vercel is no longer supported as a deployment method, and will be completely removed when version 3.0 is released.
| Resource | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | 2 cores | 2–4+ cores |
| RAM | 2 GB | 4 GB+ |
| Storage | 10 GB | 20 GB+ SSD |
| Database | Any Prisma-compatible DB | PostgreSQL |
| Node.js | 20+ | Latest supported LTS |
| OS | Linux | Linux |
| The minimum requirements are the bare minimum to run Orbit (not recommended for production), while the recommended requirements are the ideal setup for a production instance. We highly recommend using a SSD as Orbit requires a lot of I/O operations and needs quick access to the filesystem. |
You cannot use MongoDB, as MongoDB's database interface is NoSQL, and Orbit was programmed to be in SQL-like interface (such as PostgresSQL), and therefore is not compatible with MongoDB.
