Muhammad Ather

Lead Software Engineer | Healthcare AI, Integrations & Compliance Platforms

I build healthcare and compliance software that real teams rely on: clinical AI, healthcare integrations and GRC platforms, from architecture to production. I work remotely from Lahore, Pakistan (PKT, UTC+5), with US, UK and EU teams.

Most of my work sits in private repos, so the case studies below show it.

Selected work

InsightCare at VST Inc., HIPAA-regulated US healthcare SaaS (team product) · Senior, then Lead Software Engineer, Jul 2024 to Sep 2026 · case study

  • Built the AI discharge summary, which pulls in the nurse summary, active medications, clinical notes and ICD/CPT codes so physicians review a draft instead of writing from scratch.
  • Owned AI dictation and clinical notes on AWS Transcribe and HealthScribe (top contributor of 8 on the feature).
  • Integrated AI-suggested ICD/CPT codes into clinical notes, order sets and the patient dashboard.
  • Built an inbound HL7 v2 API (8 message types) and the daily ERA 835 SFTP sync with S3 archiving.
  • Built the BI Analytics module from scratch: daily SFTP ingest of BI and patient-survey files, about 40% faster.
  • Main author of PI Tracker, the personal-injury case-tracking module. Mentored 3 junior engineers.

CyGuardPro, multi-tenant governance, risk and compliance (GRC) platform · Lead engineer · case study

  • Designed and built most of the platform and led a junior engineer.
  • Built AI evidence validation, an asset intelligence engine (confidence scores, LLM gap-fill, human acceptance) and AI-assisted device matching with human approval.
  • Led delivery of a multi-provider AI engine (OpenAI, Anthropic, Ollama), a page-aware co-pilot across 134 app pages, embedding-based cross-framework mapping, and an evidence judge that only counts verdicts whose quotes appear in the source.
  • Led performance work that cut evidence collection from 9.7s to 3.2s and dashboard load from 4.7s to 2.3s.
  • Django/DRF and Vue 3, 1,091 API routes, 333 data models, 27 compliance frameworks, a suite of 1,487 automated tests.

Vehicle Daily Check, UK fleet daily-check SaaS · Technical lead / engineering owner (part-time), AEK Tech UK Ltd · case study

  • From first commit to live Stripe billing in about four weeks.
  • Django/DRF API (11 apps, 110 REST paths) behind a Vue 3 PWA and an Expo React Native app, with personal and per-seat fleet subscriptions on Stripe.
  • 460 automated tests, scheduled jobs on systemd timers, and a photo-evidence pipeline with PDF proof.

Also: Software Architect (contract) for a confidential public-sector client since Oct 2020, including a nationwide intranet system used by 4,000+ users. Earlier, C#/.NET Core and Angular at Adnare.

Public code: spotter-eld-trip-planner, an Hours-of-Service trip planner with ELD log sheets (Django REST Framework, React/TypeScript, 47 tests).
