AgentShield is a deterministic, zero-external-API runtime firewall, capability policy engine, egress DLP scanner, and SHA-256 hash-chained audit ledger for autonomous AI agents and Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool servers.
Unlike probabilistic "LLM-as-a-Judge" wrappers that introduce 300–1200 ms of latency and remain vulnerable to second-order prompt injection, AgentShield enforces sub-millisecond, deterministic security invariants across every stage of the agent execution lifecycle.
Autonomous AI agents bridge untrusted natural language inputs directly to privileged system capabilities (shell execution, filesystem access, SQL queries, HTTP clients, financial APIs). Reference alignment with the OWASP 2026 Top 10 for LLM & Agentic Applications:
| OWASP 2026 Risk Category | AgentShield Defense Module | Enforcement Mechanism |
|---|---|---|
| LLM01:2026 Prompt Injection | PromptInjectionDetector |
Multi-layer signature, ChatML delimiter, Base64/Hex decoding, and zero-width Unicode steganography inspection |
| LLM08:2026 Untrusted Context Poisoning | PromptInjectionDetector + AgentShieldPolicy |
Detects covert instructions in HTML comments / RAG chunks and blocks privileged tools when context_source != "direct_user" |
| ASI02:2026 Agentic Tool Misuse | AgentShieldPolicy |
Deep inspectors for Shell chaining (;, |, $()), Path Traversal (..), Cloud Metadata SSRF (169.254.169.254, RFC1918), and Stacked SQLi |
| LLM06:2026 Excessive Agency | AgentShieldPolicy |
Declarative allow, deny, and require_approval rules with human-in-the-loop callback gates |
| LLM02:2026 Sensitive Info Disclosure | DataLeakageDetector |
Real-time egress redaction for OpenAI/Anthropic/AWS/GCP/GitHub keys, PEM private keys, JWTs, DB URIs, SSNs, and Luhn-validated credit cards |
| LLM05:2026 Improper Output Handling | DataLeakageDetector |
Detects and strips executable <script>, javascript:, and inline event handler XSS payloads |
| LLM07:2026 System Prompt Leakage | DataLeakageDetector + PromptInjectionDetector |
Blocks verbatim system prompt probing and detects leaked system canary tokens in egress responses |
| LLM10:2026 Unbounded Consumption | PromptInjectionDetector + AgentShieldPolicy |
Enforces strict input context budgets, argument length caps, and blocks recursive token-bomb directives |
