The conversation log can get very verbose, making it hard to scroll back and find previous questions/answers. ctrl+t (toggle reasoning display) already helps a lot here, and ctrl+o (toggle all timeline) is useful too, though it makes the view even more verbose rather than less. What's still missing is a way to visually distinguish user questions and final model responses from everything in between (reasoning, tool calls, intermediate output), and to navigate between turns without manually toggling reasoning on/off for the whole session.
Proposed solution
- Style user input ( > ) and final model responses (purple dot) with distinct colors so they stand out clearly from intermediate content while scrolling back.
- Support collapsing everything between a request and its final response by default, with each block independently expandable — rather than the current global on/off toggle via ctrl+t .
- Once the user moves on to their next request, automatically collapse the previous turn's in-between content (reasoning/tool calls), so scrollback naturally stays lean without manual toggling.
- Add navigation controls to jump directly between previous requests/final responses.
Example prompts or workflows
- Scrolling back through a long session to quickly find "what did I ask 10 questions ago" by only seeing requests/final responses, with the option to expand any turn's detail on demand.
- Automatically collapsing a turn's reasoning/tool output as soon as the next question is asked, keeping the active view of the conversation compact by default.
- Jumping via keybinding directly to the previous/next request or final response.
- Expanding a specific collapsed turn to debug why the model produced a certain answer, without affecting the collapse state of other turns.
