Bluefruit: don't send commands to the connection LED timer before it exists - #13
begin() creates _led_blink_th at its very end, after some twenty ways of returning false. BLEAdvertising::start() calls setConnLedInterval() unconditionally, so calling it after a failed begin() queues commands for a NULL timer. configASSERT is compiled out in release builds, and the timer task then faults in uxListRemove() on address 4, long after the caller has returned and with nothing on its stack to say who sent the command.
Meshtastic gets there on its own: its setup() logs the failed begin() and carries on, and the next PowerFSM transition that re-enables BLE resets the node.
setConnLedInterval(), _startConnLed() and _stopConnLed() now skip the timer if it doesn't exist. Adafruit's Bluefruit52Lib has the same pattern; I have only read that one.
Testing
nRF54LM20-DK, a local line based on v0.5.1 with these same functions, Meshtastic 2.8.3, with begin() made to fail by a temporary change that starves the TRNG. The firmware side was left unchanged.
Without this change, opening the serial API hard-faults every time: CFSR 0x8200 (precise bus fault), R0 4 on entry to uxListRemove() from prvTimerTask. DWT comparators show resumeAdvertising() and setConnLedInterval() ran, and _stopConnLed() did not.
With it, setConnLedInterval() runs and returns, there is no fault and the serial API works.
nRF54L15-DK, Meshtastic 2.8.3 on platform v0.5.0, with this change and #14: begin() succeeds and BLE advertises, so the normal path still reaches the timer. It ran for 3 h 24 min with no reset or fault, with a phone connected for over two hours.
Not tested: begin() failing on an nRF54L15, since the forced failure was only run on the nRF54LM20-DK.

begin() creates _led_blink_th at its very end, after some twenty ways of returning false.
BLEAdvertising::start() calls setConnLedInterval() unconditionally, so calling it after a failed begin()
queues commands for a NULL timer. configASSERT is compiled out in release builds, and the timer task then
faults in uxListRemove() on address 4, long after the caller has returned.
Connection LED timer operations now check for an available timer before using it. setConnLedInterval returns when the timer is unavailable. The start and stop functions also guard their timer operations.
Changes: Connection LED timer guards

Summary
Guard connection LED timer operations libraries/Bluefruit54Lib/src/bluefruit.cpp
setConnLedInterval returns if _led_blink_th is null. _startConnLed starts the timer only when connection LED control is enabled and the timer exists. _stopConnLed stops the timer only when it exists.
meshtastic/nRF54_Arduino#6: Its TRNG lifecycle change relates to the begin() failure path described for the connection LED timer guards.

Explanation
Docstring coverage is 33.33% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 3 functions across 1 files.
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

A rabbit checks the timer’s place, Then guards each call with care and grace. If none is there, it waits instead, No timer call is made ahead. The LED rests, the checks are done.
