Mitigates CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 until docksal/service-cli#350 is merged and released.

  • Adds service-cli.yml, which builds docksal/cli from the phase2/service-cli fork (phase2-interim, which uses floating php:X.Y-fpm-trixie bases so the weekly build picks up new PHP patch releases) and publishes ghcr.io/phase2/service-cli:php8.{2,3,4}.
  • Makes the base image configurable via CLI_IMAGE (defaults to docksal/cli) and uses the interim image in CI.
  • Drops PHP 8.1, which has no upstream fix.

After merge

  1. The build triggered by the merge will fail because the interim images don't exist yet. Run "build interim service-cli images" manually, then re-run "build images".
  2. Make the service-cli package public; PR builds don't log in to GHCR.

Revert once upstream releases

Delete service-cli.yml and the CLI_IMAGE build arg in default.yml.

Walkthrough

The pull request adds a workflow that builds interim service-cli images for PHP 8.2–8.4 on amd64 and arm64. The default Docker build now uses a configurable service-cli image and no longer includes PHP 8.1 in its build matrix.

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Make the interim image readable before switching every build to it.

Pull-request builds skip GHCR login, and a newly published GHCR package is private by default. The supplied pipeline logs show anonymous pulls failing with HTTP 403 for the new base image. Publish the package and set its visibility to public before enabling this override, or provide pull-request builds with authorized read access. Otherwise, publishing the interim tags alone will not restore PR builds. (docs.github.com)

Agreed. This is expected until the package exists. After merge, the interim workflow will be run manually and the service-cli package made public (see the "After merge" steps in the PR description). Making it public is preferable to logging in on PR builds, since fork PRs couldn't read a private package anyway.

@tekante Thanks for clarifying. The documented post-merge steps cover this finding; no PR-build login change is needed.

After publishing the package and making it public, verify anonymous pulls for php8.2, php8.3, and php8.4 before rerunning “build images.” That verification remains pending.
