I'm a Senior Software Engineer specialising in design systems, currently building Hearth at Utility Warehouse. Every customer-facing application is built on it, and more than a dozen cross-platform product teams use it.
- 🧱 I build and scale its core libraries: accessible React components, design tokens, iconography, illustrations and fonts
- 🔁 I automate the Figma-to-code pipelines and back it all with Storybook, visual regression testing and custom dev tooling
- 📚 I write documentation for engineers and LLMs alike, and I count it as part of the product
- 🤝 I mentor engineers, run knowledge-sharing sessions and support adoption across teams
- 🤖 Right now I'm making Hearth AI-native, with an MCP server, custom agent skills and generated LLM documentation, so AI tools produce UI that follows the system
It's been a bit of a winding path. I started out as an artist, studying computer networking as a mature student, then moved through backend and frontend before landing in design systems.
I'm based in the North Wales countryside with my family and our many animals. I'm usually reading, walking, or fixing something.
