passed to hw_random16 is never below the selected lower bound of 100 ms when on
or 500 ms when off; preserve the existing state-dependent bounds.
- Line 11045: Update the interval handling in the light-timer effect so
initialization still resets interval to zero, but non-initial intervals above
500 ms are capped at 500 ms instead of discarded; this lets timers advance at
low frame rates while limiting long time jumps.

Learning: In WLED effect/overlay implementations (C++ under wled00), ensure effects operate through the SEGMENT.* read/write APIs for their own pixels/overlay state. Reserve global frame reads/writes like strip.getPixelColor* for copy_* style post-processing only. Do not manually composite/blend across lower layers inside the effect; segment-to-segment blending is handled later by WS2812FX::blendSegment(), so effects should produce their per-segment contributions without trying to composite with underlying layers themselves.

Process every overdue toggle in one call.
At frame intervals up to 1500 ms, mode_XmasTwinkle applies at most one toggle per light per call. A light with a 100 ms on-time and a 500 ms off-time at a 1000 ms interval falls behind by about 700 ms per call. The overdue value keeps decreasing until it no longer fits in int16_t nextEvent. The narrowing store then wraps to a large positive value, and the light keeps its current state for about 30 seconds.
Use a loop so that every overdue toggle is applied. Each toggle adds at least 100 ms, so the loop runs at most about 15 times at the 1500 ms cap. nextEvent then stays in range.
🐛 Suggested fix

@NPAssoc here is a comparison of the three versions (your PR, my PR, original PR in this order) I had claude make, no warranty of full correctness but its easier than comparing on actual LEDs. |

minor: as "I" can be confused with "l" or "1" easily - the typical convention is to call such a parameter "me".

maybe use "me" instead of "I"
optimised xmas twinkle effect by @NPAssoc, original PR #4843, revised PR #5901
this version sits between the two: the looks are closer to the original effect but much smaller in code size and uses less RAM then the revised version.
Also added color slider: instead of using random colors, it spreads the palette, allowing to create repeating patterns
