Walkthrough
The pull request replaces MinIO with RustFS in self-hosted configurations and adds bucket initialization and CORS setup. It updates Node.js requirements, build tooling, package versions, and workspace settings. It also changes web startup, API-key error logging, login input handling, and related tests. UI component forwarded-ref types change from React.ElementRef to React.ComponentRef.
Possibly related issues
usesend/useSend#473 — The Docker base image changes to Node 24, and the web package updates Next.js. The issue’s specific Node 22 version requirements are not addressed.
Possibly related PRs
usesend/useSend#474 — Both PRs update Next.js and the sharp override. Both also change the Docker base image, with different Node.js and Alpine versions.

rustfs/rustfs:latest and amazon/aws-cli:latest can change without a Compose change. Pin tested versions or digests so the storage service and initializer remain reproducible. Based on learnings, Docker image references should use a specific version tag or digest rather than latest.

forwards to container port 9000, where the S3 listener is available, while
retaining the loopback-only host binding.
- Line 81: Pass the application’s NEXTAUTH_URL into the rustfs-init environment
before its initialization command runs, so the generated CORS rule uses the
application origin instead of an empty value.
- Line 72: Update the S3_COMPATIBLE_BUCKET setting in the dev initializer
configuration to use the configured environment value and default to the
application’s bucket name, unsend, when unset. Ensure the initializer creates
the same bucket local uploads target.
Review comments at @docker/prod/compose.yml:
- Around line 107-111: Restore the S3-compatible environment settings in the
`usesend` service so `isStorageConfigured()` can succeed and
`getDocumentUploadUrl()` can generate upload URLs. Re-enable the access key,
secret key, bucket, and public URL entries, and set the API URL to the RustFS
service address reachable from the container.
- Line 43: Update the published port mapping in the Compose service containing
RUSTFS_ADDRESS so host port 9002 forwards to container port 9000, matching the
S3 listener.

root `package.json` as well as `pnpm-workspace.yaml`, keeping their versions
synchronized so pnpm 9 deployments apply the remediation pins.

docker/dev/compose.yml:89 🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Keep the minio volume name, or copy its data before renaming.
Renaming the named volume from minio to storage makes the rustfs service mount a new, empty volume. Objects in the old minio volume are no longer mounted by this stack. If existing development data must survive the upgrade, keep the minio volume name, or copy the data into the new volume before the rename. The RustFS image may not read MinIO's on-disk data directly, so confirm that before you reuse the volume.

Review comment at @docker/dev/compose.yml at line 89:
Keep the existing minio named volume in the RustFS service mount and volume
declaration so the stack continues using existing data; if retaining that name
is not viable, copy the data to the new volume and verify RustFS can read it
before switching.

Thanks @rubixvi for putting this together. The dependency security fixes are now covered by #470 (Next.js 15.5.28, the Node 22.23 base image, nodemailer 10, vitest 4 and overrides for the remaining advisories), which is merged. This PR also changes UI components and the compose files, which we'd rather review separately, so I'm closing it. If you'd like to propose the compose or infrastructure changes, a smaller focused PR would be very welcome.
